Turn on Bluetooth
As said before, the Bluetooth icon appears in system tray only when Bluetooth is turned on. In short, if the Bluetooth is turned off, the Bluetooth icon wonât appear in system tray. Here is how to check the status of Bluetooth and turn it on/off.
Step 1: Open Settings app by either clicking Settings icon in the left-side of the Start menu or using Windows logo + I keyboard shortcut.
Step 2: Click Devices icon.
Step 3: Click Bluetooth.
Step 4: Under Manage Bluetooth Devices section, turn on the option labelled Bluetooth to turn it on. Likewise, move the switch to off position to turn off Bluetooth.
Since you want to restore the missing Bluetooth icon in system tray, please turn on Bluetooth. The Bluetooth icon should immediately appear in system tray after turning on the feature.
Add Bluetooth icon to system tray/notification area
If turning on Bluetooth didnât help you get back the missing Bluetooth icon, itâs likely because the system tray icon of Bluetooth has been disabled under Bluetooth settings. Follow the given below directions to enable the Bluetoothâs system tray icon.
Step 1: Open Settings app. Click Devices.

How to Turn On Bluetooth on Windows 10
The following tutorial is assuming you have installed the Bluetooth driver (read: Download Bluetooth driver for Windows 10) and have enabled the device. For example, some laptop computers have a switch usually with the Function keys to physically turn on the Bluetooth hardware on your laptop. Then, you can follow the steps below to turn on Bluetooth on windows 10.
- In Windows 10, press Win+i keys to open Settings app.
- Select Devices.
- From the left pane, select Bluetooth.
- On the right, under Manage Bluetooth devices, click to toggle on the Bluetooth.

How to Turn On Bluetooth on Windows 10 No Toggle
Check Bluetooth Generic Adapter
You want to turn off or on the Bluetooth in Windows 10. You follow the steps as instructed everywhere else only to find that there is no toggle for Bluetooth in the Windows 10 settings. If the turn on or off Bluetooth Windows 10 is missing from the Settings app, it most likely indicates that either the Bluetooth driver is not installed or is faulty. Hereâs how to check if your Bluetooth adapter is correctly installed.
- Go to start menu or Cortana.
- Search for and open Device Manager.
- Click View from the menu, then click Show hidden devices.
- Expand Bluetooth Radios.
- Now, if you see any Bluetooth adapter with a yellow exclamation mark beside it, it implies that the driver was not correctly installed.
- Right-click on the Bluetooth adapter and then select Update driver software.
- If youâre not sure which is your primary Bluetooth adapter, update all of them.
After updating the driver, retry the steps mentioned earlier to turn on Bluetooth on Windows 10. You should be able to see the toggle in the Bluetooth Settings now.

Uninstall all Bluetooth adapter drivers
Windows has a feature which will automatically install missing drivers for your devices when it detects hardware which the drivers are not installed. If there is an installed driver but a faulty one, you may want to try to uninstall all these drivers and reboot your computer to allow Windows to automatically install them again for you.
You can uninstall Bluetooth drivers from the Device Manager. Follow the steps as outlined above until step 4. Right-click the Bluetooth adapters from the list and then select Uninstall to remove the driver. Reboot your PC and the Bluetooth drivers should be installed automatically. You can then follow the instruction above for how to turn on Bluetooth on Windows 10 and see if the toggle is showing up in the Bluetooth settings.
Some Bluetooth adapter drivers come with an installed software. You may also want to check on the Programs & features to see if there is any Bluetooth-related software and uninstall them if you find any.
